Since 1994, the Beartrap Summer Music Festival has made the woods and meadows atop Casper Mountain ring with bluegrass music during the third weekend of July. The Festival was started by the Natrona County Roads, Bridges & Parks Department in conjunction with Clear Channel Radio. From modest beginnings, it has grown to host thousands of music lovers each year.

A wide variety of regional and national bluegrass bands performs every year, providing almost continuous music from mid-morning until dusk. For the last few years, the Festival has welcomed some of the biggest names in bluegrass as special headline performers, including the Sons of the Pioneers, Asleep at the Wheel, and Ricky Skaggs. Other Festival traditions include an open-air pops concert by the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra and a Sunday morning gospel service.

While music is the heart of the Beartrap Summer Festival, it's not the only attraction. There's a marketplace featuring dozens of artists, craftspeople, and merchants, an open air food court with something for every taste, and a special kids' area with supervised crafts and activities. It's truly a family event - even Fido is welcome (on leash, please!).

Best of all, it happens in the beautiful setting of Beartrap Meadow, where birdsong and rustling leaves play a natural accompaniment to the music. Remember to bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and sunscreen, and we'll see you this year at the Beartrap Summer Music Festival.
